John Stamos Opens Up About 'Horrific' DUI, Ambien Use and Surprise Pregnancy

Hey, that was awesome, and it took aLOT of courage for John to open up about all of this stuff in his life so candidly.

Losing someone is the worst. When I was twenty, I lost my grandpa (who was like a second dad to me, because growing up, my dad was a raging alcoholic, and that was difficult). It seemed like the world was turned upside down when my grandpa passed of his cancer. I still cry when I think about him I miss him so much, and all of the encouragements and things he did for my siblings and I. He felt like a second dad because I felt like my dad (before he gave up the bottle, and that wasn't until I was sixteen when he finally DID quit drinking). Now I am 35 and my dad still hasn't picked it back up- not once!) We are all so proud of him. And I know that my grandpa is looking down from Heaven prouder than proud of him now.

My brother didn't follow too far behind in my dad's footsteps when he became an adult. He went through some extremely difficult situations himself. A divorce, the same childhood as mine (but longer because he is older than I am!), he was in and out of the drug scene, IN and out of treatment facilities. The good news is that nearly a couple years ago, like John, he realized he was done with it. Yes,
D-O-N-E! He has been clean since that duration of time, is e-learning a men's substance abuse center, is working a much lesser paying job than the job he had (he was a union worker), AND is going to school to become a substance abuse counselor. We are very proud of him. He made the choice to take all of the bad and turn it all into a beautiful work of art- in that he is helping others turn their lives around also!

Though there is no excuses for negative behavior, but if we are all realistic, everybody's got their own ways in dealing with things. Life is an adventure....it's got its ups, and it's got its downs....but within each of us we have a will to make positive choices that will not hurt the ones around us.

I am so thankful that there is help everywhere if we really look around! Professionals, churches, groups anonymous, gyms to get healthy, and so many things to do, places to visit, etc....!

If you see this John, you are awesome. Everybody is rooting for you! It's also a New Year. Only YOU ARE IN CHARGE OF YOU! Like my dad, and brother, and millions of others,......if they can do this you will too! Don't look back at your negativities. They can't be changed, but only learned from. Look forward. You may never know how many billions of people you will probably be helping! There are aLOT of exciting things ahead for you. Exciting things for everyone! Stay positive. Stay focused. Stay
motivated. Good luck to you and every other reader here!
